This shit is ridiculous.
That’s meant in the most sincere and respectful way.  Turkish-born German native, Selim Varol is a collector of everything creative - almost to the point of borderline hoarder and freakishly obsessive.
The guy has over 15,000 pieces of creativity from over 200 artists - including, KAWS, Fafi, Shepard Fairey, Takashi Murakami, Banksy, DJ Shadow, JR…you get the fucking picture right?
Somehow, The Collectors Room has managed to fit only 3,000 pieces of his collection into their space to showcase for the next few months.
One word to this man, Respect.
Unfortunately, the older we get - the more we tend to dry up inside.  We lose taste for what really matters in life - and what really matters by far is, Creativity.  We forget that colours matter;  that sharing designs are important.
Admiring one’s idea, that has been transformed into a creation shouldn’t be a simple feeling of admiration but something that should trigger something within.
Which is why, we need to realise - that toys, paintings, statues, photos aren’t just for the young-minded and ‘creative’ types. But rather - quite necessary for humans to progress.
I mean, FUCK - can you imagine what we’d be like if we never had any form of toys, paintings or music?

I wanted to take the time to give a shout out to a close friend and confidant who goes by the name of HAUNTED.

I knew this guy was the real deal before the pope knew he was christian - matter of fact I still think he doesn’t even know it.

His style is the origin of original, pure fucking classic shit.  Seriously though, who makes an 80s building or a flight of stairs, or even a puddle of fucking water look like something that’s been taken out of a gallery every single time.

Big up HAUNTED. Respect to your eyeballs and fingertips.

When a pioneer of musical talent and creativity passes the world seems to stop.  The day that we heard Adam Yauch aka MCA of the Beastie Boys passed was no different, and one that will reside with millions around the world, for a long time.
It’s no different for me - which is why I needed to take some time to digest this.
If you want to read up on the accomplishments of what MCA, alongside his brothers-Mike D and Ad-Rock completed, get straight to it - the list is long.  But I’m not writing this to illustrate my vast knowledge about who they are, what they did, who they worked with, which albums made the top ten..and so on.
Instead - I want to tell you what I think is the significant end of an era.
For the first time I’ve awakened to the realisation that the golden era of hip-hop has actually passed.  Unfortunately it’s taken this slap in the face to make me blink and open my eyes to this realisation.
Along the way, there have always been untimely passings of hip-hop greats and times where we’ve been like ‘damn - that’s it, the stuff we grew up with is no longer’. Yes that’s true - but fact is - it ended with the passing of MCA.
Why?  Because of how he passed.  It’s made me realise that the greats are getting older, the immortals are now like us- mortal.  Inevitably creeping one step closer to the merciless laws of life.
BUT the beauty is that we will always have the beats and the lyrical bombs of the high-pitched scratchy voice of MCA to take the Beastie Boys and their masterpieces towards Legendary status.
So in honor of Adam Yauch, Adam Horovitz and Mike Diamond I want to present to you a tribute by DJ M-Rock  - one worthy of two decades worth of fucking great music.
Do yourself a favour and have a listen here.
R.I.P Adam Yauch aka MCA and my respects to your entire family and friends.

We’re pullin the rope in on the NBA playoffs and personally, it seemed like the right time to drop the new logo for the Brooklyn Nets.  Or completely the wrong time since everyone is so damn focused on it at the moment.
Which is probably why holding out on talking about this was triggered by two main mind-blocks:  1. The uncertainty about what the hell I was really looking at. 2. Trying to understand what the hell I was really looking at.
Conclusion?  I still don’t know what the hell I’m really looking at.  But I fucking like it. There was always going to be an expectation for this to be dropped and be like BAM - that’s it - that’s THE logo.  It may not have that effect but it sparks something different.
Before you say anything prepare to shut the fuck up.  There are gonna be haters about the technical aspect of it, the symbolisation behind it bla bla bla - but truth is, this is a logo that stands out against all others.
Every other NBA teams logo is cluttered with colour and crazy wackness - this on the other hand is straight up.  It is what it is and no more. Brooklyn Nets New York City. Basketball.
That’s it and that’s all it needs to be.
On the flipside though (if you are a hater) - Australian graphic designer/typographer Andrew Guirguis has made a shit-solid attempt at upping the ante for a ‘better’ crafted logo over at Reset The Nets.
Can’t argue that the guy’s got skill.

“I can do anything I want to do…regardless of what you say, regardless of what you think, regardless of what you do.”

 I AM OTHER.

If you haven’t heard about it already, this is the start of a new era - a movement, a culture, a community of creatives who deserve to be seen.  This platform - created by the man himself Pharrell Williams.

Regardless of what people say, and by people I mean the always ever-depressing and self-depriving of any form of happiness ‘NEWS’ channels, we live in a great era.  No, you don’t agree?

Well you’re wrong - we do.  Just stop for one second and look at the amount of creative genius’ we witness on a day to day basis.  The era of technology, internet, and a boom in musical talent and versatility that gave us the likes of Pharrell Williams.

Now re-wind 50 years..sratch that, make it 15 years.  The internet was still a place for yahoo email, msn messenger and a baby by the name of e-bay.  And here we are..2012.  Surrounded by a fuckload of garbage in the ever-expanding Universe we like to call The World Wide Web being injected with overused rotten plastic of 3 billion people.

Yes cynical it may sound, but its the truth.  It’s times like these that make us realise what actually sets the paintbrushes apart from the paint.

“Networked Society - On the Brink” is one of the most intriguing and eye-opening videos of the 21st century.

Brought to us by Ericsson Multimedia  we get a glimpse into some of the masterminds behind creativity in innovative technological products and services.  People such as David Rowan, chief editor of Wired UK; Caterina Fake, founder of Flickr and Eric Wahlforss, co-founder of Soundcloud each discuss their own opinions and thoughts on how the world is moving into what is dubbed a ‘Networked Society’.

We all know that we have now reached a point in which the internet is entering a new stage.  The stage whereby the roots have been planted for the world to take communication, creation and innovation to a whole new level whether it be for personal use or on a corporate level.

The leading devices will no doubt be mobile allowing people to connect every single second of the day in ways which we have yet to even think of.  Which is why we are reaching that point in which limitations simply seem not to exist anymore.

We are well on our way becoming a completely Network Society.

Too many times we see people tend to react differently to someone who has lived through the unfortunate and unlucky occurrence of losing a limb.

There are also too many times when you can’t help but second glance over at someones prosthetic limb which tend to look so damn plain, old, retro and impersonal.

That’s why Bespoke Innovations is the next level in terms of prosthetic legs.  AS well as offering standard designs Bespoke allows you to design your very own customised and purely unique leg in collaboration with one of the team designers.

It makes it personal.  Connecting with the person directly, in a manner that no other prosthetic limbs have - by emotionally connecting and in turn wearing them as a form or self expression.

Bottom line is, we are all human beings.

Almost 10 years to the date since the 1st gen iPod was released - we get an insight of just how many patented items Apple has.
Most of which are under Steve P. Jobs.  From adapters, to computers, to Apple TV User interfaces - there’s well over 300 listed in this New York Times article.
Yet another ode to the mind behind the master we know as Steve Jobs.
